  • Saudi Arabia was accelerating its efforts to meet its strategic goals for renewable energy.   The Ministry of Energy oversees the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), which announced the commencement of the second phase of its battery energy storage system (BESS) project, in April 2025. The project is expected to have a capacity of 2.5GW/10GWh and a total investment of about 6.73 billion Saudi Riyals.
  • With a capacity of 12.5GWh at the time, BYD Energy Storage and Saudi Electricity Company were able to sign the largest grid-scale energy storage project contracts in the world, in February 2025. The entire collaboration now totals an astounding 15.1GWh of projects, when combined with the previously completed 2.6GWh project. With this signing, its cooperation in the field of renewable energy has taken a significant and positive step ahead, giving Saudi Arabia's renewable energy sector tremendous impetus and helping to achieve the country's Vision 2030 objectives.
  • Schneider Electric, the world leader in energy management and automation digital transformation, announced the release of its newest Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), which is built to be a part of a scalable and adaptable architecture, in April 2024.  Schneider Electric's controls, optimization, electrical distribution, and recognized digital and field services form the basis of a fully integrated microgrid system, which is powered by BESS.
  • In Tagawa-gun, Fukuoka Prefecture, NTT Anode Energy Corporation, Kyushu Electric Power Company, Inc.   • The second phase of Vistra's Moss Landing Energy Storage Facility has just finished, in August 2021. Currently, the battery system stores energy and releases it to the California grid as required.
