Recent News:
- The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) conducted a successful exploratory marine mining trial in the Andaman Sea, between India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Myanmar, for obtaining polymetallic nodules from the seabed, in October 2024. This trial followed surveys and identification of polymetallic nodules within the country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) by the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
- TechnipFMC collaborated with Loke Marine Minerals (Loke) to develop enabling technologies for the extraction of seabed minerals derived by marine mining, driving the energy transition and a sustainable future, in August 2021. Together, Loke and TechnipFMC developed a patent-pending, autonomous subsea production system that aimed to have minimal impact on the environment and positioned the company well for potential offshore licensing on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) and internationally.
