- In February 2024, Stockeld Dreamery, a Swedish vegan dairy business, has launched Melt, fermented Cheddar slices that it characterizes as part of the 'third wave' of plant-based cheeses. Stockeld Dreamery's latest product, Melt, a plant-based Cultured Cheddar SKU, brings in what the Swedish firm calls the 'third wave' of vegan cheese. Melt, created over four years, is manufactured from the company's fermented legume milk (with a pea protein base) and promises to deviate from the 'plasticky', non-melty texture that plant-based cheeses have long been ridiculed for.
