Global Super Abrasives Market Overview

Abrasive are the most used materials across the various industries for cleaning the hard surface, grinding and polishing. An abrasive helps to provide surface finish and shape for the material.Abrasives are mineral like materials available in different sizes, shapes and sizes depending upon the need. They are used to clean, abrade, scour, grind and remove solid materials by the action of rubbing. Two kinds of abrasives are available in abrasives market as synthetic and natural. Most of the natural abrasives have been replaced by synthetic abrasives in the abrasives market due to their consistent properties as required in industrial applications. Apart from natural diamond most of the abrasives are variable with their properties. One of the basic properties an abrasive must possess is hardness and that it must be harder than the material to which is polished, grinded or removed. In the 1970s, the term super abrasive was used to describe new alternatives to cutting tools based on polycrystalline diamond materials developed by the General Electric Company in the US. This very hard, brittle compound was an improvement on available grinding and cutting tools, although they required new techniques for proper use. The material is so hard that only diamond cutting techniques can be used to shape cutting tools made of this material. For one material to polish another, the first material must be harder than the other, hardness is a semi-quantitative value and refers to the overall ability of the material to avoid breaking when a force is applied. Hardness associated with roughness in use and bearing life, materials used in critical parts have grown harder and more abrasion-resistant as improvements in metal alloys and bimetallic structures have been developed. These parts must be manufactured to specification to meet the highest tolerances, manufacturing alone is not sufficient. Abrasives are particles for grinding and cutting in a grinding wheel and generally have the characteristics of being sharp and hard, the earliest abrasives can be divided into natural abrasives and synthetic abrasives according to their source.  However, synthetic abrasives have replaced natural abrasives in many applications due to their unstable performance. Super abrasives offer consistent and even diamond distribution, slicing performance, uniform wire diameter, uniform diamond count and no diamond clustering in the electronics industry, which is expected to drive the market during the forecast period. The wear rate of super abrasive materials is very low and the requirement of wheel replacement is also less compared to conventional abrasives, this could be a key driving factor for the growth of super abrasives market.

The demand for precision and machining tools is driven by increasing production of motor vehicles and construction activities.
