- Following almost two decades of commercial cooperation, Ames Goldsmith Corporation and Pyromet Inc. agreed in February 2023 to incorporate Pyromet, Silver Phoenix, and Independent Refining Company (IRC) into the Ames Goldsmith family of companies. In order to maintain their positions as the leading makers of refiners, chemicals, and products made from precious metals in North America, both companies are keen to combine their resources and key competencies.
- The largest bullion refiner in India, MMTC-PAMP India Pvt., declared in April 2022 that it is expanding into the industrial silver sector as a result of the anticipated rise in demand for the metal in South Asia. Everything from switches to television displays uses industrial silver. The plant, which can handle about 900 tons of gold and silver, has started making silver and alloy contacts, which are used in electrical fuse boxes and switches, at a location close to its refinery in the state of Haryana. By the end of March 2024, the facility will produce more than 100 million contact parts, with ambitions to boost productivity.
