• In May 2021, BrightFarms opens its newest indoor farm in Hendersonville, North Carolina. The 6-acre greenhouse is expected to produce 2 million pounds of lettuce per year. Similarly, in 2019, Bright Farms expanded its construction unit with three new sustainable greenhouses in Massachusetts, New York and North Carolina.
• In May 2021, Bowery Farming, a vertical farming startup based in New York, reported a $300 million Series C funding round. Bowery said it will use the money to continue expanding its network of indoor smart farms across the US.
• In April 2021, Aerofarms has partnered with Hortifrut SA, a certified B Corp in Chile. The collaboration is expected to focus on research and development for blueberry and cranberry production in vertical farms and fully controlled indoor environments.
