Global Gastric Cancer Treatment Market Trends

Increasing medication approvals for novel therapeutic approaches

Worldwide, for instance, treatment modalities like immunotherapy and targeted therapy are becoming increasingly popular. In developed nations like the U.S., targeted medications like Cyramza and Herceptin are commonly used to treat gastric cancer. Additionally, the approval of new treatments with fresh offerings is increasing, which may aid in market expansion and ultimately lead to the growth of the gastric cancer market.

For example, the Food and Drug Administration announced in April 2021 that nivolumab (Opdivo), in conjunction with platinum- and fluoropyrimidine-containing chemotherapy, has been approved for the treatment of esophageal adenocarcinoma and metastatic gastric cancer. One thousand five hundred eighty-one patients with advanced or metastatic gastric cancer, gastroesophageal junction cancer, or esophageal adenocarcinoma who had not received prior treatment were included in a randomized, multicenter, open-label trial. Of these, 792 patients received nivolumab in addition to chemotherapy, and 792 received it alone.
