- In January 2024, Australian packaging and recycling company Visy Industries, a supplier of food cans, announced the acquisition of Advanced Circular Polymers (ACP), a plastics recycling company. This strategic move will enhance Visy's recycling operations and prevent significant amounts of difficult-to-recycle plastic from ending up in landfills.
- In November 2023, Sonoco Products Company acquired the composite can manufacturing operations of Amcor Packaging (Australia). Amcor's operations include two factories, one in suburban Melbourne and one in Sydney, primarily serving the spices, food and detergents sectors. The acquisition of Amcor's can factories will further strengthen its position in the Asia-Pacific region.
- In October 2023, Colep Packaging and Envases Group signs a joint venture agreement to build an aerosol packaging plant in Mexico. Based on a 50/50 participation ratio, this transaction will have a total initial investment of more than $30 million over two years. The new factory will initially focus on three aluminum aerosol can production lines. This manufacturing unit aims to serve customers in Mexico and the entire Central American market.
- In July 2023, Jam strong and the University Of New South Wales (UNSW) have partnered to promote aluminum production and recycling in Australia. Jamesstrong and UNSW will fund the joint project under the government's Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE) programme. The new “Green Aluminum Partnership” will include the commercialization of advanced MICROfactory recycling technology from UNSW's SMaRT Technology Hub. The technology will be integrated into Jamestrong's can production process at its factory in Taree, New South Wales.
