Recent News:
- Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH) began offering cryoablation, a minimally invasive cancer treatment that employs intense cold, in May 2023. Using ultrasound or CT scan guidance, a small needle known as a "cryoprobe" is inserted into the cancer and frozen, killing the tissue. With the cryoprobe, the apparatus from KMCH uses liquid nitrogen in a closed-loop system to freeze tumor cells.
- The Isolis cryoprobe, a single-use, disposable tool intended for use with cryoCare systems and intended to increase procedural efficiency and precision for cryoablation, was introduced by Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, in May 2023. The new gadget gives interventional radiologists more operational control thanks to features that improve efficiency, accuracy, and predictability. It has a sharp probe tip and a compact 2.1mm/14-gauge shaft to enable precise and easy placement.
- Boston Scientific Corporation declared in August 2023 that the POLARx Cryoablation System has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). With two balloon diameters (28 and 31 mm) in one catheter, the POLARx FIT Cryoablation Balloon Catheter is a distinctive feature of the new system, which is intended for treating patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF).
- Medtronic plc, a leading global provider of medical technology, stated in December 2023 that the PulseSelect Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) System has been approved by the FDA to treat both paroxysmal and chronic atrial fibrillation (AF). Following the PulseSelect PFA system's November European CE (Conformité Européenne) Mark, this is the first PFA technology approved by the FDA.
