Recent News:
- Global energy and commodity price monitoring organization ARGUS introduced the first-ever independently evaluated ship bunker fuel pricing with a biofuel component in January 2023. The revised B24 daily evaluation describes the market value of "bunkers" since ship fuel is comprised of 76% very-low sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) and 24% used cooking oil methyl ester (UCOME), which are delivered on-board in Singapore. According to the business, the marine industry is accepting the need for change and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. This is a young and emerging market, and the new B24 evaluations—the first biofuel bunker pricing in history—offer vital clarity. The market will become increasingly important as the industry shifts to producing reasonably priced zero-carbon substitutes.
- S&P Global Platts introduced two new daily methanol bunker fuel price assessments in October 2021. These assessments show the value of methanol used as a marine fuel at the ports of Singapore and Houston. Methanol has become more in demand as a marine fuel due to a rise in vessel construction and related activities at important bunkering hubs worldwide.
- BunkerPro, a new software from SGS to evaluate the quality of provided fuels before and after bunkering, includes sustainability and capability. It was introduced in April 2022. Reachable from any location globally, BunkerPro leverages its unique laboratory presence, industry knowledge, and digital technology to provide a customized quality control program designed for your bunker needs. BunkerPro conducts distillate testing for bunker fuel to ISO 8217 International Standard versions 2010/2012/2017 so that our customers may get timely, reliable information about their fuel quality.
- In collaboration with World Fuel Services and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, PRIO introduced its new ECO Bunkers B30 biofuel in February 2023. PRIO first unveiled ECO Bunkers B15, a green ship fuel that contains 15% biodiesel, before introducing ECO Bunkers E20, a 20% biofuel blend. The new ECO Bunkers B30 blend 30% advanced biofuel produced at PRIO's biodiesel facility using waste feedstocks. The mixture is then combined in PRIO's tank terminal in Aveiro. This blending method's flexibility makes it possible to adjust the number of biodiesel combinations (up to a 100% renewable product, which permits a reduction of up to 86% in greenhouse gas emissions) and scale production by demand.
