  • Biometric payment cards were introduced in the Indian market in September 2023 by IDEX Biometrics and KL HI-TECH, a reputable international card manufacturer and provider of smart cards and secure printing solutions to state and federal governments. With an annual production capacity of 36 million dual-interface payment cards and approvals from Visa, Mastercard, and RuPay, KL HI-TECH is certified in numerous ISO classes. Important banks in Asia and India are among KL HI-TECH's clientele. KL HI-TECH biometric cards are expected to be issued to bank customers in the first quarter of 2024.
  • Mercedes-Benz significantly advanced in-car payments in September 2023 when it launched a biometric fuel payment system in Germany. The luxury carmaker offers this feature in collaboration with Mastercard, allowing users of compatible Mercedes-Benz models to pay for gas using an in-car fingerprint scan. The car's MBUX infotainment system handles the payment, precisely the "Mercedes me Fuel & Pay" function. In Germany, there are currently over 3,600 gas stations that take this new form of payment.
