  • SECI will issue India's largest standalone BESS tender in July 2024, for 1,000MW/2,000MWh. SECI has launched a tender for battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a total output and capacity of 1,000MW/2,000MWh. In what is believed to be India's largest tender for standalone BESS resources, the state-owned company plans to sign Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) contracts through the tender. SECI noted that it has received interest from electricity-buying entities throughout the country in deploying 'on-demand' energy storage devices to help them control their energy use during both peak and off-peak hours.
  • In July 2024, TotalEnergies aims to generate 5 to 7 gigawatts (GW) of gross electricity storage capacity globally by 2030, primarily through battery-based energy storage systems. To accomplish this goal, we are leveraging the technological competence of our subsidiary Saft. Learn about our accomplishments and projects in this sector. Battery-based ESS systems provide a significant challenge to the future of power grids while also serving as a necessary complement to renewable energy, which is inherently intermittent. Large-scale ESS systems are critical for fostering the growth of renewables and allowing them to account for a significant share of the power mix.
