Galvanized Steel Market Size
Galvanized Steel Market Size was valued at USD 102.1 Billion in 2024 and is expected to reach USD 172.1 Billion by 2034 growing at a CAGR of 5.9%
Galvanized steel is normal steel dipped in zinc to improve its corrosion resistance. The galvanized protective coating protects the iron steel substrate from corrosion caused by moisture, saturated environmental conditions, or ambient humidity. During galvanization, a sacrificial layer is formed between the zinc protective layer and the steel, providing optimal protection against rust-causing factors. The galvanizing process typically entails immersing cleaned steel in a bath of molten zinc. Zinc adheres to its surface, creating a barrier against moisture and other corrosive substances. This zinc coating not only physically covers the underlying steel, but it also provides cathodic protection, which means it will corrode before the steel, sacrificing itself to safeguard the substrate metal. Galvanized steel is widely used in construction, automobile production, and industrial applications due to its increased strength and endurance over untreated steel. The distinctive spangle or crystalline pattern seen on galvanized surfaces is caused by the solidification of the zinc coating while cooling.
