- In October 2024, Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited, a global sustainable chemical producer, as part of a supply chain collaboration with Suntory, ENEOS Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Iwatani and Neste, launched the world’s first bio-PET bottle for commercial scale, made from ISCC+ certified bio-paraxylene2. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the journey toward sustainable packaging, introducing PET bottles derived from used cooking oil.
- In August 2023, Neste has entered a cooperation with Suntory, ENEOS and Mitsubishi Corporation to enable the production of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) resin made with renewable Neste RE on a commercial scale. Neste RE is Neste’s feedstock for polymers production, made 100% from bio-based raw materials such as waste and residues, e.g. used cooking oil, to replace fossil feedstock in the value chain.
- In August 2023, Origin Materials, Inc., the world’s leading carbon negative materials company with a mission to enable the world’s transition to sustainable materials, and Sustainea Bioglycols, announced a strategic partnership centered on advanced bio-based materials produced using Origin’s technology platform and Sustainea’s bio-based glycol products and market expertise. As part of the partnership, Sustainea signed two multi-year capacity reservation agreements to purchase renewable chemicals from Origin Materials, including bio-based PTA and bio-based FDCA.
- In December 2021, Anellotech has produced 100% bio-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET), starting with bio-based p-Xylene using the company’s Bio-TCat technology through the subsequent downstream separation, purification, intermediate PTA (purified terephthalic acid) and final PET steps. This was the last milestone to completely validate the Bio-TCat technology for the production of prototype 100% bio-based bottles.
