In May 2024, Recupero Etico Sostenibile S.p.A. (RES), an Italian waste management pioneer, and BlueAlp, a leading provider of innovative recycling technology, entered into a partnership. In addition to providing a technological license, BlueAlp will design, source, and assemble the device at its Eindhoven, Netherlands, workshop. RES will own and run the facility to handle and convert 20kt of mixed plastic garbage annually. This facility, located in Pettoranello del Molise, Italy, is anticipated to be operating by mid-2026.
In May 2023, AMP Robotics Corp. announced that it would offer a complete line of automated systems for materials recovery facilities based on artificial intelligence. The company, headquartered in Louisville, Colorado, claims it also provides an integrated facility solution that can be utilized independently to expand recycling infrastructure. According to AMP, Robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) are being used to recognize and classify things to increase recycling rates and profitably recover raw materials for the global supply chain.
