Organic Acids Market Overview

Organic acids are widely distributed in nature as they are found in animal, plant and microbial sources, they contain one or more carboxylic acid groups, which can be covalently linked to groups such as amides, esters and peptides, produced by many fungi, yeasts and bacteria. Organic acids. While the production of organic acids on a large industrial scale is mainly limited to acids of microbial origin, many organic acids of bacterial and fungal origin are important industrial products, whose biological production has definite economic advantages over chemical synthesis. More than 100 acidic compounds have been isolated from microorganisms, ranging from simple, substituted acids such as formic, to complex, glycosylated acids such as piolipic acid. Monocarboxylic acids range from the simple formic acid to acetic, propionic, stearic and the most complex acids with branched chains, such as isovaleric and the most complex acids with branched chains, such as isovaleric acid. More than a dozen di- and tricarboxylic acids are known, while the number of known hydroxyl-acids of microbial origin is more than 50, this category includes the commercially important citric, gluconic, itaconic, ascorbic and lactic acids. In aerobic bacteria and fungi, organic acids accumulate as a result of incomplete substrate oxidation, which causes an imbalance in essential nutrients such as mineral ions. A well-known example is the use of manganese-deficient media for the overproduction of citric acid as a means of reproducing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrogenase and their accumulation strictly parallels growth. Depending on their metabolic origin, microbially produced organic acids can be distinguished between those derived from the main metabolic pathways of aerobic microorganisms, such as the tricarboxylic acid cycle and glycolysis and derived from the direct oxidation of glucose. The second group, produced from glucose by one or two enzymatic steps, is related to biotransformation in this context. Organic acids are organic compounds with acidic properties, classified based on the number of carboxylic functions, generally acids are weak acids. However, phenols, enols and organic acids containing alcohol and thiol groups are weaker than carboxylic acids. Organic acids are organic compounds that have acidic properties, organic acids are commonly known as having a carboxylic functional group in its structure, to be organic, it must contain a carbon atom in its formula. There are two types of organic acids, one containing a carboxyl group, and for example acetic acid which is produced by oxidizing grain alcohol or fermenting fruit sugars in cider, the other containing a phenol group. Organic producers rely as fully as possible on natural materials and physical, mechanical or biologically based farming methods, the product can be called organic if it is certified to have been grown on soil with no pesticides applied for three years prior to harvest. A major positive factor for the market is the significant growth in the food and beverage industry worldwide. However, increasing preference for multifunctional cosmetic and personal care products fortified with citric and formic acids is also contributing to the growth of the market.

Organic Acids Market Dynamics

The organic acids market is driven by increasing adoption of organic acids as antioxidant agents by food manufacturers and growing demand for bio-based organic acids. Furthermore, increased use of organic acids in animal feed as a substitute for antibiotic growth promoters is another factor expected to drive the market for organic acids over the forecast period. The increasing use of organic acids in the production of soft drinks is expected to act as a fuel agent to stimulate the growth of the organic acids market globally. In short, organic acids can stimulate secretory enzymes, lower gastric pH, inhibit pathogens, act as an energy source during GI-tract mediated metabolism, improve mineral utilization through the chelation process, increase whole-tract digestibility, and improve growth performance. Organic acids inhibit the growth of harmful microorganisms by lowering the pH in the digestive tract, low pH also stimulates enzyme activity in the stomach and small intestine, improving nutrient digestion, individual organic acids have different effects on harmful microorganisms and gastrointestinal balance. Increasing use of organic acids to combat foodborne pathogens will increase the demand for organic acids to combat foodborne pathogens will increase the demand for organic acids in the food and beverage industry. Prominent companies focus on investing in base expansion and increasing their production capacity to strengthen their position in the organic acid market. On the other hand, organic acids can be harmful if inhaled, absorbed through the skin, inhalation can cause irritation of the respiratory tract and irritation of throat, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and pulmonary edema. Exposure to some organic acids causes irritation of the skin, eyes, nose, and throat, the accumulation of lactic acid in muscles during intense physical activity can cause irritation. Fluctuating prices of raw materials such as biomass, corn, sorghum, and others and high initial investment will hinder the growth of the global acid market, and high cost of raw materials and technology barriers will restrict the market growth.

Technological advancement

Organic acids are being produced using new technologies and chemical formulations to offer products that do not contain any harmful ingredients that may harm health with long-term use. Major manufacturers are developing new infrastructure and launching new products to stand out from the competition. Major organic acid manufacturing companies are primarily engaged in research and development activities to develop new production technologies and meet the growing needs of end-use industries. Products involving Organic Acids Markets are developing advanced versions of their products due to new age technological advancements. Key players of organic acid are investing more in power systems and creating more modern, timesaving, cost-effective technology that has a positive impact on the organic acid market. Changes in regulations benefiting organic acid are expected to fuel the market, particularly in developed countries. In January 2020, BASF invested in sustainable technology at the Ludwigshafen Verbund site, which will increase production capacity by 50,000 metric tons to meet growing demand for methane sulfonic acid, a strong organic acid with a wide range of chemical and end uses. Electronic industry.
