Global Soil Vapour Extraction Market Overview
Soil vapour extraction (SVE) is an in-situ remediation technology in which vacuum is applied to the soil usually through brocholes/trenches to induce a flow of air through the unsaturated zone soil. Soil evaporation uses vacuum pressure to remove volatile and semi volatile contaminants (VOCs and SVOCs) from the soil. Soil vapour extraction can run intermittently once the extracted mass removal rate has reached a steady state level. Further, the area called the capillary fringe is often high contaminated as it holds undissolved chemicals that are higher than water and vapours that have escaped from the dissolved groundwater below, which supports the growth of soil vapour extraction market.
Global Soil Vapour Extraction Market Drivers & Restraints
Increasing levels of soil contamination drives the global soil vapour extraction market
- Growing focus on the development of environment friendly industries is one of the key aspects of country development. Objective of the sustainable and environment friendly industrial production project is to support public and private stakeholders in jointly implementing strategies for efficient and climate-friendly industrial development.
- Further, industrialization of developing countries are following Development programs and promotional Guidelines that aim at decreasing pollution by an average of 20% in the surroundings of industrial sites.
- The largest cause of soil contamination is the poor waste management techniques, improvement in waste management, would reduce the burden of waste in the society. As, Hans Bruyninclx, EEA Executive Director, said: “Managing contaminated land in Europe costs an estimated € 6.5 billion per year.”
Slow implementation of environmental protection regulation
- Slow implementation of environmental protection regulation is the major problem of implementing soil vapour extraction is due to lack of knowledge and awareness among the people in the country. Weak institutional capacity, corruption and stifled civic engagement are the key factors behind the poor effectiveness and implementation of soil vapour extraction.
High cost of equipment’s
- High cost of heavy equipment’s and excavation hampers the global soil vapour extraction market. As soil vapour extraction is a costly method it requires heavy equipment’s, which are not readily available or feasible to purchase. Further, lack of Government funding for the soil vapour extraction also hinders the growth of soil vapour extraction market.
Global Soil Vapour Extraction Market Segmentations & Regional Insights
Soil Evaporation Market is segmented based on by product, by method, by application, and by region.
- On the basis of product, the global soil vapour extraction market is segmented into Vinyl Chloride, Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl Benzene, Xylene, Petroleum Range Hydrocarbons, Trichloroethene, and Others.
- Based on methods, soil vapour extraction market is segmented into Six Phase Soil Heating, Thermal Enhanced Vapour Extraction System and Electrical Resistance Heating.
- Based on applications soil vapour extraction market is segmented into Mining and Forestry, Oil and Gas, Agriculture, Automotive, Landfills and Waste Disposal Sites, Manufacturing and Others. However, due to high demand for remediation services for removing contaminants from soil and groundwater the oil, gas, mining and forestry applications are becoming popular.
Regional Insights:
- By region the global soil vapour extraction market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa. Europe is expected to dominate the soil vapour extraction market, as there are many contaminated sites across Europe. For instance, approximately 14% are contaminated and likely to require remediation according to European environment agency (EEA) network. Further, Municipal and industrial waste disposal and treatment causes around a one third of Europe’s soil contamination.
