Global Renewable Methanol Market By Overview
Renewable Methanol Market accounted for US$ 3.45 billion in 2020 and is estimated to be US$ 5.77 billion by 2030 and is anticipated to register a CAGR of 5.30%.
Renewable methanol is a type of fuel which is primarily derived from sources such as industrial waste, coal, municipal waste, biomass, and carbon dioxide. Biomass is primary source for the generation of renewable methanol. Renewable methanol produces low carbon emission. It can be blended with motor fuels in order to improve their octane number. Renewable methanol emits less carbon-di-oxide (CO2) as compared to other fossil fuels. Renewable methanol is an attractive emerging fuel for electricity generation. Methanol fuel is an alternate biofuel for combustion and other engines, either together with gasoline or independently. Methanol is a smaller amount expensive to supply sustainably than ethanol fuel, although it's generally more toxic and has lower energy density. For optimizing engine performance and fuel availability, however, a mix of ethanol, methanol and petroleum is probably going to be preferable to using any of those alone. Methanol could also be made up of hydrocarbon or renewable resources, especially gas and biomass respectively. It also can be synthesized from carbon dioxide and hydrogen. Methanol fuel is currently employed by racing cars in many countries but has not seen widespread use otherwise.
Global Renewable Methanol Market By Dynamics
Increasing adoption of renewable methanol
Increasing adoption of renewable methanol as an alternative energy source is a major factor drive growth of the global renewable methanol market. In addition, rising environmental concerns associated with the high emission of carbon-di-oxide by use of non-renewable fossil fuels is a factor driving demand for renewable source of energy and in turn fuelling growth of the global market. Furthermore, growing demand for renewable methanol by various industries such as paint and coating, chemical, and automotive is another factor boosting growth of the global renewable methanol market.
High production cost
However, high production cost and inadequate infrastructure for production of renewable ethanol are major restraining factors hampering growth of the global renewable energy market.
Global Renewable Methanol Market By Segmentation
Renewable methanol market has been segmented on the basis of source, application, end-user, and region.
On the basis of source, the target market is classified into municipal waste, biomass, and industrial waste. Based on application, the global market is bifurcated into formaldehyde, MTBE, gasoline, dimethyl ether, and solvents. On the basis of end-user, the global renewable methanol market is sub segmented as construction, chemicals, transportation, and power generation.
Regional Insights:
For detailed understanding of market dynamics, on the basis of region, the global market has been segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa. North America renewable methanol market accounted for the largest market share in terms of revenue in year 2018. This was attributed to well-developed end user segments in the countries of this region such as automobile and chemical industry. The Asia Pacific renewable methanol market also shows significant growth in the target market over the forecast period. This can be attributed to increasing government subsidiaries and government initiatives to spread awareness for the adoption of renewable resources in the countries in this region.
