Global BioPolyamide Market By Product Overview

Bio-Polyamide Market was valued at USD 205.5 Million in 2024 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 15.40% to reach USD 861.7 Million by 2034.

Bio-polyamides are novel biopolymers made from sustainable materials such as natural fats and oils. These polymers are known as nylon, and they have a variety of beneficial qualities, including biocompatibility, reusability, and non-abrasiveness. Bio-polyamide is a polymer that is produced using bio-based raw materials or renewable raw materials, it is also known as amide polymer synthesizer depending on the chemical structure. Bio-Polyamides are engineering polymers based on renewable raw materials that combine a green chemistry approach with good mechanical and thermal properties. Bio based polyamides are a new class of bio plastics made from renewable sources such as natural fats and oils. Most of these bio amides are based on sebacic acid with the exception of polyamide also known as nylon or polyundecanolactam which is based on undesilanic acid. Bio polyamides are used in many (demanding) applications such as automotive fuel lines, pneumatic air brake tubing, electrical cable jacketing, flexible oil and gas pipes, and powder coatings. Some new applications include toothbrushes, carpets, tires, sporting goods (sports shoes and outdoor apparel), and electronic casings. The use of bio-polyamides in automotive helps to save money on gas and reduce carbon emissions, which is driving the trend of polyamides especially in e-mobility. Increasing application in textile engineering, engineering plastics, fiber, electrical and electronic industries is driving the demand for bio polyamide market.

Global BioPolyamide Market By Product Drivers & Restraints

Increasing demand for electrical vehicle and High cost of raw material

Increasing production applications in the packaging industry and growing demand for polyamides in various end-user industries such as electrical and electronics, automotive, construction and textile, are driving the business growth. Automotive sales are also increasing as the demand for electric vehicles and growing demand in the automotive industry for its good fuel-saving qualities and low carbon emissions are expected to fuel the growth of bio-polyamide. Lack of availability of raw materials such as castor oil, which is the primary raw material used in the production of bio-polyamides containing primary components such as undecanoic acid and sebacic acid, is expected to inhibit the production of bio-polyamide and is therefore restricted. Industry will not be able to meet the demand due to low production of market growth, High cost of raw materials also hampers the growth of the market.

Technological advancement

Manufacturers involved in the Bio-Polyamide market are developing advanced versions of their products due to new age technological advancements. Major bio-polyamide players are investing more in power systems and creating more modern, time-saving, cost-effective technologies that are positively impacting the bio-polyamide market. Changes in regulations favoring bio-polyamide are expected to boost the market, especially in developed countries. In May 2021, Pepsin-degradable plastics of bio-nylons from itaconic and amino acids. Chiral interactions were derived from the diastereomeric mixture of the racemic pyrrolidone ring and the chiral amino acid of leucine. As a result, the polyamides showed a glass transition temperature, Tg, of approximately 117 degrees Celsius and a melting temperature, Tm, of approximately 213 degrees Celsius, which was higher than conventional bio-nylon 11 (Tg of approximately 57 degrees Celsius).

Global BioPolyamide Market By Product Segmentations & Regional Insights

The Bio-Polyamide Market is segmented based on product, application, end user and region.

Bio-Polyamide Market, By Product

On the basis of product, the Bio-Polyamide Market is segmented into PA 6, PA 66, and Others. Nylon (PA) 6 and 66 are both synthetic polymers called polyamides, describing the type and amount of polymer chains in their chemical structure. Most nylons, including 6 and 66, are semi-crystalline and have good strength and durability for demanding applications. Polyamide 6, or polycaprolactam (PA6) is one of the major engineering thermoplastics. PA6 is tough, has excellent abrasion resistance, good chemical resistance, fatigue resistance, lubricity, impact strength, high strength and toughness.

Bio-Polyamide Market, By Application

On the basis of application, the target market is classified into Fiber and Engineering Plastics. Engineering plastics include polyamides used for skis and ski boots; Polycarbonates, used in motorcycle helmets and optical discs; and poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA, major brand names acrylic glass and plexiglass) used e.g. for taillights and protective covers. Bio-based polyamides are used in fibers because these materials have good mechanical properties that make them strong enough to be used in woven fabrics.

Bio-Polyamide Market, By End User

On the basis of end user, the Bio-Polyamide Market is segmented into Automotive, Consumer Goods, Film and Coatings, Electrical and Electronics, Industrial, and Others. The increasing demand for improving vehicles' fuel efficiency and weight reduction is a primary driver for the increasing application of bio-polyamides in the automotive sector.

Regional Insights:

On region the Bio-Polyamide Market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa. Bio-polyamides are widely used in the North American region for various applications such as fibers, engineering and plastics which account for a large share of the global demand. Increasing use of bio-based polyamide materials is driving the growth prospects of this market.
