Global Automotive Ignition Coil Market Overview

An ignition coil is an induction coil that supplies a high voltage to the sparking plugs of an internal-combustion engine. The ignition coil sits between the batteries and, if the car is an older model, the distributor which 'distributes' the HT voltage to each spark plug, via a thick rubber HT led. An ignition coil is an induction coil in an automobile's ignition system that converts battery voltage into the thousands of volts needed to produce an electric spark in the spark plug to ignite the fuel. Some coils have an internal resistor, while others rely on a resistor wire or external resistor to limit the current flowing into the coil from the car's 12-volt supply.

The ignition coil works like a transformer, through two coils, one inside the other, and the ignition coil converts electrical energy from the vehicle's battery to high voltage, briefly stores and then emits it as a high voltage current pulse, Spark plug. Ignition coils consist of three parts; a primary circuit made up of hundreds of turns of primary winding, a secondary circuit with thousands more turns and an iron core. The purpose of the ignition coil is to convert the low current from the car battery into enough power to ignite the fuel and start the engine. When there is a problem with the ignition coil it can cause a range of mechanical and performance problems Ignition coils are precisely adapted to the requirements of modern spark-ignition engines such as turbocharging, downsizing, direct injection, and lean mix, high exhaust gas recirculation rates, which contribute to lower fuel consumption and emissions, and subsequently, boost vehicle ignition.
