Security inks are specialized inks designed to protect printed materials like documents, labels, and packaging from forgery and counterfeiting. These are used in various applications, including banknotes, passports, and tickets, offering a range of security features. The security ink market is experiencing growth due to several factors, including the increasing need for authenticity and protection against counterfeiting and forgery, particularly in financial and legal documents, packaging, and labels. Other key drivers include rising concerns about identity theft and the growing adoption of security labels for product tracking and authentication.

- In December 2021, Gleitsmann Security Inks announced successful establishment of security feature mouve. Checking banknotes and other secure documents more easily this was possible with the innovative security feature mouve developed by Gleitsmann Security Inks (GSI), a subsidiary of hubergroup. Under UV light, the feature ink shows a colour transition and an afterglow effect when the light source is switched off. This “traffic light effect” can be checked by using existing tools and sensors. An Asian banknote customer already successfully uses mouve.
