Liquid Biofuels Market Key Highlights
In June 2024, the FAOSTAT Bioenergy domain was released in June as part of the 11th Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has established a new FAOSTAT domain for bioenergy. The new figures increase FAO's global data on agrifood systems. The new statistics show the production and final consumption of bioenergy by biofuel type, such as solid biofuels (animal waste, bagasse, black liquor, charcoal, fuelwood, other vegetal material, and residues), liquid biofuels, and gaseous biofuels.
Liquid Biofuels Market Report Analysis:
Government Initiatives:
- In May 2022, India's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas published its “National Policy on Biofuels" in 2018, and further amended it in June 2022. The policy's objective is to reduce the import of petroleum products by fostering domestic biofuel production. This amendment proposal will pave the way for Make in India drive thereby leading to reduction in import of petroleum products by generation of more and more biofuels. Since many more feedstocks are being allowed for production of biofuels, this will promote the Atmanirbhar Bharat and give an impetus to Prime Minister’s vision of India becoming 'energy independent' by 2047.
- In January 2025, , the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced USD 6 million funding for three projects that will advance biofuel development and support the U.S. leadership in energy and emissions innovation. Funded through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the projects will support research to improve performance and reduce costs of high-impact biofuel production technologies, scale up production systems with industry, and support the U.S. bio economy.
