Liquid hydrogen (LH2) is a liquid form of hydrogen, achieved by cooling hydrogen gas to extremely low temperatures. It offers higher energy density and ease of transport, making it ideal for rocket propulsion and fuel cells. The liquid hydrogen market is growing due to decarbonization, renewable energy integration, and growing demand from liquid nitrogen. Improvements in fuel cell technology and hydrogen infrastructure are driving widespread adoption of LH2, making it a crucial energy storage solution.

In April 2025, in order to connect Oman, the Netherlands, and Germany, a joint development agreement (JDA) has been inked to create the "world's first" liquid hydrogen corridor. As previously revealed, this corridor would allow the commercial import of liquid hydrogen that complies with the Renewable Fuel of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) regulations into Europe by connecting the Port of Duqm in Oman, the Port of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and important logistical centres in Germany, notably the Port of Duisburg.
